Making Memories: Vintage Groove (Daisy Style)

I promised yesterday I'd share another of Daisy's jewelry samples, so here it is:

So pretty, right? She's having so much fun making jewelry to match her outfits for each day of the week. Once she designs one and wears it, she will take the pieces apart and use them to create something new. It's great for me, because this way she isn't borrowing my jewelry as often. (I may start borrowing hers!)

To create the sample, attach Abalone and Rose pendant to the center of the MOP colorful jewelry strand. Add a brass jump ring to each end of that, then connect antique brass chain extensions to each side. Remove as few or as many of the extensions as desired, according to the length you want for your necklace. Add jump rings to each end again, then attach an antique brass clasp so you'll be able to easily add and remove the necklace.

To create this sample, attach ceramic pendant to center of silver strands using a silver jump ring. Attach MOP heart about 1.5" above pendant on the right side using a silver jump ring. Attach Antique Findings Flower about 3.5" inches above pendant on the left hand side (Daisy used an antique brass jump ring, but you can also use a silver one). An inch above that, attach the green faceted glass drop using a silver jump ring. That's it! A simple yet colorful necklace that's very easy to make.

Making Memories: More Vintage Groove samples (and a giveaway!)

I posted THIS a week or so ago as a little teaser, but now I can show the completed project. Head on over to Making Memories BLOG to get instructions and to see samples of the finished necklace (and matching earrings), which looks a little something like this:

In addition to the necklaces shared on Making Memories site, I also created another one today. The one above is a vintage style, but the new one (below) is a bit funkier. 

If you're a long-time fan of Making Memories you'll notice I used pearl charms from their Simply Fabulous line as part of my necklace. The charms have a metal pin running through the middle, so you can string ribbon through them, but I removed the pins for this necklace. To remove them, use the Making Memories Vintage Groove tools (I used the needle-nose pliers) and simply wiggle the pin back and forth with slight pressure on each side until it comes loose (see below). If tiny pieces remain, you can file them with a metal nail file to remove them.

The green flower on this necklace is my all-time favorite from the Vintage Groove collection:

The blue flower is a close runner-up, though:

Here are the supplies you'll need to create this necklace:

• MM Vintage Groove Alphabet Charm -- Letter "E" (click HERE to purchase)

• MM Vintage Groove Jump Rings -- Silver (click HERE to purchase)

• MM Vintage Groove Silver Seed Beads (click HERE to purchase) (I used the crystal charms)

• MM Vintage Groove Jewelry Tools (click HERE to purchase)

• MM Simply Fabulous Trim: I used the round pearl charms, as mentioned above. They aren't a current product, but you can find them on ebay and some scrapbook stores still have them in stock--just do a google search. Or, get creative and find something in your own stash or at an antique/junk store.

To create the necklace, take the silver chain apart and remove some of the links from it. In their place, begin adding the other elements, as shown. Use silver jump rings to connect each piece. I find it easiest to the needle nose pliers in one hand and the round tipped pliers in the other hand when I am opening and closing the jump rings.

Of course, as soon as Daisy got home from school, she claimed this necklace and said she's going to wear it to school tomorrow. She's going to replace the initial "E" with a "D" or another charm. Here she is relaxing on the couch with her new necklace:
