How Fortunate...

I've posted some of my favorite messages from fortune cookies here before, but I wanted to add my favorite of all time. This is what I've had tacked onto my bulletin board for years, and it makes me laugh every time I see it:

Oh, the irony in pairing that message with that photo. (She was throwing a fit because she didn't get to wear the outfit she wanted that day.)

That little fortune truly has to be the best.fortune.ever. It is always good for a smile and some days that is just what I need.

On My Desk (Pink Paislee)

I thought I'd share a peek at my desk today. It's covered with Pink Paislee supplies right now:

I'm working on a fun little project using the Artisan Albums (the blue one is the one you see in the photo above and below). 

I am also using a ton of the Artisan Printed Paper Tape, because it's probably my favorite new product of theirs (at the moment):

 

Finally, I'm using the 365 Degrees Paper Pad because it's cut to perfectly fit the album, which makes things easy for me. 

What's everyone else working on lately (scrapbook-wise)? Anything fun? It seems like everything I do lately is mini-album related. I seem to enjoy projects with a finite number of pages, because it seems I've accomplished a lot when I can say I've finished an entire album.

Gotta Love Kids

I am busy cleaning/reorganizing my office. I have to do that every now and then so I can clear out the clutter and focus on the things I really need.

During the process of cleaning, I found little messages from Daisy all over the place. They always make me smile:

 

I can't ever throw things like this away (that's probably why I'm a scrapbooker). Some of them are going on the "inspiration board" above my desk. Others just get tucked away so I can stumble across them and smile all over again.

I'll post my inspiration board once it's finished! In the meantime, here is a flicker group for inspiration boards.

Scrapbooks etc. Page Share: Feb 2010

You may remember THIS POST from August, when I gave a sneak peek at a layout I was working on.

Well, that layout is finally out in the current issue of Scrapbooks etc., which means I can share it now.

BTW, the version below may look a little bit different from the one that appears in the magazine, because I changed it before I sent it in. I made the photos a little larger and rearranged the journaling and title to accommodate the larger pictures.

Almost everything used on this page is from the Cosmo Cricket Jolly By Golly line, which happens to be one of my favorite winter paper kits to come out in ages. I am crazy for the bright colors and fun graphics.

First I should say...Daisy's birthday is coming up (November 12th!) and she decided she wants to forgo the party so we can go on a shopping spree together. A mother/daughter shopping spree -- I love it!! (We'll still go out for ice-cream with her friends.)

I decided to create a mini album to document the event. I'm going to create most of it before her birthday so I can just add the photos and a few embellishments after we go shopping. I'll take pictures of the clothes she picks out, shots of her favorite storefronts, and add the receipts or tags from the clothes we purchase. It will be something fun for her to look back on when she's older.

Here's the paper pack I am using (the BasicGrey Urban Prarie collection pack) and the mini album (Fancy Pants Square 8x8 Mixed Media Book):

 

If you want to play along, go ahead and order those two supplies or pick them up at your LSS and I'll post detailed pictures and instructions for the album once it's done. I am sure I will be adding stickers and other embellishments, but I'm just getting started...hope to post an updated photo of the album later today or tomorrow as I begin assembling it.

BTW, I left the sonic cup in the photo just for my friend and fellow sweet tea addict, Cheri. (I knew it would make you smile, girlie!).

Ready for another sneak peek at my desk?

This week I'm working on layouts for the October The Scarlet Lime kit club. Believe it or not, I've never used a kit before! Christy (founder of Scarlet Lime) and I go way back...we've worked together at Scrapbooks etc. and Making Memories. When she asked me to work on a kit, I couldn't wait for it to arrive.

Here is the kit, spread across my desk:

I'll send my layouts to her in a few days and they'll be on The Scarlet Lime's website on October 1st. Be sure to check them out. It's a great kit!

Here in the publishing world (Scrapbooks etc. magazine), we tend to work on projects about 6 months in advance. So, while it's currently summertime here in Texas (and a hot 100 degrees out), I'm busy scrapbooking winter pages for the January 2010 issue of the magazine.

Here's what I'm using on my layout:

 

It's the "Jolly by Golly" line from Cosmo Cricket. How cute are those papers and stickers? *sigh* This is the reason I love my job...I get to work with such cute products! I don't know if you can see, but that multi-colored striped paper at the very top is my new favorite paper EVER!
